Where it all began

This blog is intended to be a play-by-play of how a young college kid and his wife are planning financial freedom. Our simple game plan is to become Real Estate Investors. I'll get more into that as we get going here, but before I explain why, how, when, and with what money, I'd like to give a little back ground.

2014 was a year of big decisions. So big in fact, me became we. Marriage has been awesome, weird, hard, easy, wonderful, wild, confusing, calming, and everything in between. This wife of mine is a huge blessing in my life. Amanda is my sweet love, an incredible influence, and going to change the world with her unique gifts. I am so excited to plan the rest of forever with her! Thinking about our future is really what got me started on this 'investing' kick.

This Christmas my dad gave me the Rich Dad Poor Dad Guide to Investing. The book had a lot of vocabulary I knew almost nothing about, but I did as Mr. Kiyosaki said and kept reading. The book tells the story of "rich dad" and how Robert Kiyosaki caught the vision of real estate investing. It was a good read. The biggest take away for me was that it's possible to do. Someone has to be an employer, someone owns those high rises and hotels and if we can catch the vision of that real life monopoly game we all play, then why not let it be us that runs the show. I learned about assets and liabilities, financial planning, and priorities. Mostly language all learned in an entry level accounting class I'm sure, but it stuck and seemed so easy to apply to real life.
